Seaweed Soup

Seaweed Soup

This Korean seaweed soup (miyuk gook) was made by a colleague at work.  It was yummy!  Even if you think you don’t want to eat seaweed, I encourage you to try it sometime, as the flavor is quite mild. The soft seaweed acts almost like a noodle.

It’s made with beef, garlic, and the seaweed, plus fragrant sesame oil, and is she told me, traditionally eaten on one’s birthday, and also, I learrned at about.com, a tonic for new mothers.  So maybe eating it on your birthday honors your mother? Whatever, the good taste is reason enough for me!
