Hundreds of restaurants throughout New Jersey will offer incentives to consumers who dine out during New Jersey Restaurant Week taking place September 19 – 25. The week-long promotion is sponsored by the New Jersey Restaurant Association (NJRA). For a list of participating restaurants (by county), visit the Dine Out NJ website. Just the Mercer County participants alone are impressive: Elements, Enzo’s La Piccola Cucina, On The Bone (I just had some great ribs there), , Mediterra, Firkin Tavern, Fernando’s Grill, Magma Pizza & Pita, Princeton Sports Bar & Grill (been meaning to give them a try!), Settimo Cielo, Spigola Vino Ano Cucina, Teresa Caffe, Tre Piani, Yankee Doodle Tap Room. Whew!
NJ Restaurant Week dining incentives include 20% off guest check, a fixed price Jersey Fresh menu for $35, or complimentary dessert and coffee (see website for details for each restaurant). In addition, some of the participating restaurants are collecting donations during the week to support Share Our Strength, a charitable organization that helps to combat hunger among children nationwide. Share Our Strength puts on one of our area’s premier fundraiser each sping, Princeton’s Taste of the Nation. Proceeds raised during NJ Restaurant Week will be earmarked specifically to NJ-based childhood hunger charities.
Trenton is getting into the act with their own special event. Trenton’s Restaurant Week will be kicked off with the second annual Trenton Sampler at the Friday, September 10 Trenton2Nite. The Trenton Sampler is a friendly competition between restaurants downtown. Like Restaurant Week, the purpose of the sampler is to introduce or reintroduce diners to restaurants downtown. Attendants will be able to sample the food from participating restaurants, and then vote for their favorite.
Tickets are $5 and include a shot at a $50 gift certificate to the winning restaurant. Proceeds will be distributed among participating restaurants. The sampler will be held outdoors at the Trenton Marriott Parking Garage Plaza, on the corner of Warren & Lafayette streets.
Come one, come all, get your NJ DineOut on!
