Watch it and groan. And laugh. This YouTube video is set to the tune of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and it’s captioned so you can sing along.
A friend of mine sent it to me, and it cracked me up. The email was titled, “Feeding the Mature Guest” but the video, made by Sandy and Richard Riccardi is simply titled “Holiday Party.”
While there is a reference to age at the end of their performance, and the audience pictured is admittedly mature, I think this quandary about entertaining applies to almost any group in these days of rampant dietary restrictions. (Not to be confused with true allergies and intolerances of course.)
I admit I can get very cranky on this subject. I’m tired of hearing about the latest fads, which to me are a sure sign of people just having too much time, money, and (most sadly) food, on their hands. But then I remind myself there have always been fads, and snake oil salesmen to go along with them. It’s hard to tune it out and just try to eat moderate amounts of delicious, whole, foods.
Thanks to the Riccardis for this video. They are based in the San Francisco area, and call themselves “Tastefully Raunchy” although this video is quite tame. They do cabaret, fundraisers, all sorts of events, and more information and their schedule of appearances is on their website.
