Hey everyone, welcome the new kid on our farmers market scene! They’ll be open Sundays 10:00 am – 2:00 pm through October.
Campus Town, located adjacent to The College of New Jersey in Ewing, will kick off the inaugural season of the 31 & Main Farmers Market at Campus Town beginning June 12.
If you’re not familiar with Campus Town (I wasn’t!), it’s a mixed use development on the main campus of The College of New Jersey that provides student housing (“collaborative living”), along with open-to-the public shopping, and dining. The website says, “Students live in an up-scale and trendy environment with all of the conveniences to make the experience truly memorable – collaborative living, private sleeping rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center, shopping, dining and gated parking.”
Broadcasting live on opening day will be NJ 101.5 radio host Joe Henry. Big Joe hosts the “Big Joe Jersey Request Show” Friday nights from 7:00 pm-12:00 am and on Saturday and Sunday, “The Big Joe Henry Show” from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on NJ 101.5.
The farmers market is being organized by Campus Centers, LLC, an affiliate of The PRC Group based in Long Branch, New Jersey and will be open to residents of Ewing and surrounding communities as well as to the students and faculty of The College of New Jersey. Items available at the market feature a variety of conventional and organic fruits and vegetables, meat, eggs, honey, mushrooms, cheese and gluten free baked goods. Vendors include: Cherry Grove Farm, Z Food Farm, Pineland Farms and Fulper Family Farmstead. Additional vendors will be added over the next few weeks so check out the website for up to date information about the market.
The market will be open on Sundays from 10:00am until 2:00pm from June 12 until October 30th. Cooking demonstrations, health screenings, nutrition counseling and physical fitness activities are just some of the events that will take place at the market.
