Thai at the Y

This may be Princeton’s best kept casual dining secret.  There has been a small café at the YM/WCA for some years now, and since last November it’s been run by Jirada (Da) De Toro.  In addition to fare such as sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, and even some pasta, Da’s Café & Catering also serves up the … Continue reading

Pie Mania

You’ve heard about “List mania”?  Well, I have had a bad case of pie mania for quite a few years now, sparked by my discovery of Penza’s Pies, on Route 206 South in Hammonton.  I had my “pie ephiphany,” as I called it at the time, after happening upon Evelyn Penza’s Red Barn Cafe about eight years … Continue reading

Upper Crust

Upper Crust I had pizza at Conte’s in Princeton last night with my family, and it was delicious. We are partial to roasted red pepper topping, often mixed with sausage or mushrooms, and extra garlic.  The crust was thin and crispy all the way to the middle, so their kitchen was in top form, although … Continue reading

Chinatown Saturday

The title of this blog may be NJ Spice, but where I go, you go, and yesterday I had dim sum brunch in Chinatown.  For someone who loves the cuisine, I have not had a lot of experience with dim sum, but one thing I do know – it is a lot more interesting if … Continue reading
