Sonya Ma has good reason to be extra excited during the Chinese New Year celebrations this year. Her First Wok restaurant in West Windsor (at the McCaffery’s Shopping Center on Rte. 571), has been named one of the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants for Overall Excellence in the country. She also made the Top 100 in the Healthy Menus category. She is pictured here (in center) receiving her award in Las Vegas from Martin Yan and event host Theresa Yin. (Chef Yan was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the annual meeting, too.)
Besides the awards, Ms. Ma also had an extensive writeup in writeup in the December issue of Asian Restaurant News. I’ve raved about her other restaurant, Szechuan House, in Hamilton in this blog and also my review in the Packet. Last year, after barely 18 months in business, Szechuan House was named one of the Top 100 in the Regional Cuisines catergory. I’d better get myself over to First Wok soon, too, I have not had dinner there since she took it over from her uncle in April 2008.
May God bless you with longevity and good health.
