It’s surprising how much grocery shopping one can do at the Griggstown Quail Farm and Market. Poultry-check. Produce-check. Farm fresh eggs-check. Pot pies-check. And don’t forget the great pies, sausages, myriad frozen products, and big bags of mixed dried wild mushrooms for risottos and making your own soup. They also have various condiments and many, many other items.
But until you have time to make that soup, here’s their wild mushroom soup with barley, one of several on offer. It’s made with chicken stock, a modest amount of barley, and lots of meaty mushrooms. So, even though it is a brothy soup, it is hearty and filling. Porcini, chanterelle, shiitake, and black trumpet. And truffle oil. They’ve got it all. Okay, not paper products and shampoo.
