Since my own (camera shy) mother is gone, I always feel a pang or two as the rest of the world goes right on celebrating Mothers Day. But why not, I tell myself – it’s important to celebrate with Mom while you still can, and I still get to think of my own with thanks. So, all you fathers (or S.O.s) and kids, time to work on that breakfast in bed menu – those eggs don’t just scramble themselves!
OR, take Mom out to eat at one of the restaurants below.
One 53: This Rocky Hill restaurant will open early for dinner, at 3:00pm on Mothers Day, with a complimentary glass of bubbly for Mom and special menu items.
Peony Pavilion: The restaurant is offering a special Mothers Day menu with four courses: appetizers, entree, dessert, and a presentation of special Asian teas. The cost is $40.
Rocky Hill Inn: They’re open 1 – 6pm, serving their new dinner menu plus a number of specials. Reservations recommended.
Seasons 52: Of course, this popular new spot at MarketFair Mall is open for lunch and dinner. But be sure to reserve, they get very booked up, and waits can be quite long. (Remember they are in Bridgewater now too!)
The Tiger’s Tale: They’re offering a buffet brunch between 9am and 3pm. Adults $24.99, Seniors (60+) $18.99, Kids under 10, $10.99. There’s also a full a la carte menu with many specials throughout the day, including rack of lamb, filet, lobster and more.

Yankee Doodle Tap Room: At the Nassau Inn (and remember the pretty patio), you can share a meal with some of the famous mothers whose photos are on the walls. They even made a video to entice you to come in, and here it is:
(I’ll update this list as I get new information.)
