Hot chocolate is my consolation prize for having to shovel snow yet again.
And it seems that, as with so many other things, I have amassed quite a collection. There’s the Hershey European Style cocoa on lower right (unsweetened, good for baking too), the Mocafe Mexican Spiced Ground Chocolate on upper right (very sweet, but the spices are great), and the Schokinag Extreme Dark European Drinking Chocolate on the left (slightly sweetened and pelletized). And I have some French “instant” cocoa in little packets somewhere, too.
Fancy or not, marshmallows or whipped cream, it’s just the thing as the storm outside intensifies this afternoon. Brrrr!
Here’s what I’ve been drinking after coming in from shoveling: Green & Black unsweetened cocoa powder in hot water. No sugar, no milk. Think black coffee, only chocolate flavored. So much better.
Thanks for the tip! I should try this sometime, another person I know does something similar with with Trader Joe’s cocoa and plain soy milk, which is only very slightly sweet. I drink black coffee, so it should work for me. Reminds me of the Republic of Tea’s Double Dark Chocolate Mate tea.
