Maple Candy

Maple CandyYes, more sweets. This was a gift from a someone at the office (who is no longer at Princeton, and sorely missed!).  She’s in Canada now, and dropped this off during a recent visit.

I haven’t had maple candy for years and don’t think I’ve ever had it covered in chocolate before.  I don’t think I could eat straight maple candy any more, it is so overwelmingly sweet. But here, the tannin in the chocolate actually seems to cut the maple sweetness a bit, and overall it was a surprisingly satisfying combination.  Or I was really hungry that afternoon! Between me and my colleagues, it was all quickly gone, and ever so appreciated.
