Wedding Bells

Wedding Bells

As soon as I saw this photo in an email from Tre Piani the other day, I recognized the set-up. This was from owner Jim Weaver’s very own wedding at the restaurant just a few short years ago. The scene of late-summer corn, sunflowers, herbs – and are those tomatoes I see nestled in the foliage on the curved table … Continue reading

Chocolate Orange Bread Pudding

Chocolate Orange Bread Pudding

As I finished preparing dinner one night, I had a sudden inspiration to use up the two egg knot rolls in my freezer. I needed the space! I’d bought the rolls, which are made with eggy brioche dough, with bread pudding in mind, so before I sat down to eat, I took them from the freezer … Continue reading

A Supermarket Tale

It seemed simple enough. I was nearly out of green peppercorns, the ones packed in brine, so I added them to my grocery list.  I don’t go through them quickly, but every now and then, when I’m splurging on a nice steak, I like pungent green peppercorn sauce, the kind you might find in a … Continue reading

Dinner at Enzo’s

Dinner at Enzo’s

Delicious dinner at Enzo’s Piccolo Cucina in Lawrenceville tonight. Here’s the Italian style roast duck. My companion’s rabbit with pappardelle was also really good. A blood orange and fennel salad was as pretty as it was delicious, and my cream of mushroom soup was also excellent.

Roasted Chicken with Preserved Lemon

Roasted Chicken with Preserved Lemon

When was the last time you roasted a whole chicken?  I don’t do it nearly as often as I’d like, usually favoring quick preparations with cut-up chicken parts, especially thighs. (Don’t talk to me about boneless, skinless breasts, the bane of my life.)  But the mouthwatering photo in the December 16 New York Times Magazine … Continue reading

I am so busy working on articles that I am just posting a few recent food shots of dishes and meals I’ve enjoyed lately. I cannot seem to get the formatting right (still learning on my new site!), so have made sure all have captions, to help decipher. First, here is a gorgeous stuffed, roasted … Continue reading

Oops!

Oops!

Oops! is a bit of an understatement for what happened here! No, this was not my mishap, but that of a friend who lovingly prepared a wholesome Mexican lasagna for her family with premium ingredients like organic ground chicken (by the way, I’d love to have the recipe, if you can face looking at it … Continue reading
